richard. III.

Wow, check out th amazing Richard III chair from Baleri-Italia. They call it "the very essence of stereotypical middle-class decor, the object as a mask, a technological jack-in-the-box." I don't know what any of that means, but I'm giving that chair some hardcore mind loving right now. Created by Philippe Starck (or course) in 1985.

In order to understand what it means, think about the theater or a hollywood set: while you are at a viewer's or camera's perspective, the set is completely believable, the houses look real, you are taken to places that you had never imagined being able to go to, etc.; however, once you view the structure that supports this fantasy world, you see how fragile the set is, how poorly supported it really is.

Well, it may lack in support... but I still think it's an interesting chair.

It looks like it would fit well in the corner of a small room due to its narrow width and single back support... just a thought!

I posted how I dislike this chair the other day on this site and got censured! Is this for real?? Can't a bloke not be blinded by the dogma surounding Stark?
