malibu.
A cool Swedish company named Traspecialen makes a colorful line of retro-styled furniture called the Malibu. Now, there's a lot of retro out there, but what I love about this line is that the pieces come in odd sizes and configurations, and the colors include blue and orange (looks like a fluorescent green was recently discontinued...sigh).
reasonable.
The few pieces of Malibu I've seen in person seem reasonably well constructed for the price, along the lines of the higher end stuff at IKEA. The price for the storage cabinets pictured was in the $400-$600 range. Not too bad. In fact, I was hoping to get a few pieces myself, except...
malibu. where. are. you?
The only thing I don't like about the Malibu is that I haven't been able to find any for sale in the NY/NJ/PA area. If you know an online or offline store that carries the Malibu line, please let me know. (I e-mailed the company directly about where to find US dealers but so far...nothing.)

Try Dining with Mr. Barstool in Olde City Philly... when I was looking for a dining room table (which I bought there), I remember seeing these cabinets on their second floor showroom. And drooling, profusely. But this was almost a year ago, so they might not be there anymore. Or I might be completely confused and they weren't there at all. They were, though, somewhere in Philly, of that I'm sure. A call there may find them, or if not they might be able to direct you somewhere that does. Good luck!
A few years ago, I saw Malibu stuff at Basics Furniture (7th Ave near 15th St.). I haven't been there in a while, so I don't know if they still have it. But before, they had some desks and cabinets.

Unfortunately, looking through it, I don't see any Malibu stuff, so maybe they don't carry it anymore. You should try calling them.

I saw Malibu stuff several years ago at one of the art stores on 17th or 18th St. in Chelsea. I can't remember which one and I can't say they still carry Malibu but they did back in the day. Whoever they are.
Almost positive I saw this line recently at Dane Decor in Philadelphia.
Go to www.copenhagenimports.com and click on office and then you'll see Malibu. When you click on that you'll get all their products. Enjoy!!
A store called Inspiration Furniture in Marlboro, NJ carries the whole line, and has many of the pieces in stock. I was just in there recently and they had a good selection.
Their website is:
